Big Boy

We had a fun Easter Weekend. Michael’s family had a reunion so we went to Shipshiwanna for the night. Max got to go swimming with his favorite person, Grandpa. He had so much fun swimming that he did not want to get out even though his lips were turning blue and he was shivering uncontrollably. We also learned that we do not exist in his eyes if Grandpa is around. Michael tried to go swimming with Max too, but the second Max was away from Grandpa he started screaming ‘Gapa! Gapa’ He is definitely starting to hit the terrible twos and threw a huge hissy fit when we left the pool. Tantrums are unfortunately starting to become a part of our daily routine. It usually involves food and his desire to eat only fruit. We have to hide all fruit until dinner is over and then he can get it for dessert. We have learned our lesson the hard way!

Max had a big week last week. He moved up a room at daycare (he’s with the two year olds now) and he got a big boy bed. Although we were hesitant to move him into a toddler bed we couldn’t handle many more sleepless nights. He screamed hysterically whenever we took him near his crib, so we removed the gate from his crib and turned it into a toddler bed. The first night we didn’t put up any rails and that was quite a mistake. About 10:30 we heard a thump followed by a slight cry and silence. Michael and I were laying in bed and he said I think he fell out. I said no way he would be crying if he did. Well Michael was right, but he was fast asleep on the floor. He woke up a few minutes later and I moved him back to his bed. We didn’t hear another sound out of him the rest of the night, but I woke up and checked on him about 3:00 and sure enough he was sound asleep on the floor again. We put the rail up the next night so he can still get in and out of his bed if he wants, but so far he hasn’t. He is very proud of his big boy bed now and climbs in it when he gets tired.

Max still loves to help us do whatever projects or cleaning needs to be done. Just wish he was a little more "effective" with his help.

In spite of the terrible 2's Max is entering... he's still a pretty cute and sweet boy. And, he does like babies... so maybe he really will be a big help when his little sis comes along. =0}
