I cannot believe my baby is 5 years old today! Time goes by too quickly. I'm thankful I have another year at home with him before he goes off to kindergarten. We celebrated this year with his friend birthday party on Saturday. Last year we had a party for him and man it was a lot of work. Michael had to completely entertain the kids. This year they didn't want any adult supervision. What a difference a year makes. Michael and I had stayed up until midnight the previous 2 nights planning games, making the cake etc. I mean we worked really hard. We probably had 8 games planned. Michael had set up the obstacle course so that was going to be the first activity. No one cared. They just wanted to run around. We thought we were in trouble. But then we had a scavenger hunt. We had purchased some little lego sets and and each child got a set that was divided into 8 bags to coincide with the directions. We then hid the bags in 8 different spots. This was brilliant. Time consuming and the kids loved it.Here the boys are climbing a tree the clue was hidden in.

Here's the monster cake we made. It was my first attempt at actually making a cake. I think the kids liked it b/c it had candy on it.

It was fun to see Max just be goofy with his friends.

The girls were not so sure about the 5 year old boys.

I got an idea to keep track of things through the years so here they are...

Favorite Activity: Eating Chocolate
Best Friend: J.T. and Jayden
Favorite Color: Black, Blue and Purple
Favorite Toy: Leapster
Favorite Meal: Cheese, Crackers & popcorn. (I don't consider this a meal, but Max does)
Favorite Activity to do w/ Friends: ride bikes
Favorite animal to sleep with: Lion, teddy and reindeer

Happy Birthday Max! The scavenger hunt idea was great and the monster cake looked great! Your idea for keeping track of things through the years is a good one. Wish I would have done something like that.
Thanks for sharing about Max's birthday. Blessings to you all.
Love.
