On Friday Max had a simulation that took the students through a mock Ellis Island. They were each given an identity. Max was a poor potato farmer from Ireland looking for a better life in 1906. I was able volunteer and the simulatuon was pretty cool. The kids dressed the part and had to pack a bag. Parents were the officials and detained the kids for all different reasons like medical, and illiteracy. Finally after they paassed all the stations they got to come to America. Poor Max was the last one through, but he finally made it. I'm so thankful I'm able to volunteer so much at the school. It's so helpful to know what is going on.

What a neat thing for the class to do! Max looks great even though he is to be a poor man. :)
