Bye Bye Miracle Blanket

Last weekend we decided to take the plunge and get rid of the miracle blanket, so no more swaddle for Bryce. I was expecting it to be rough, but I had no idea my laid back little guy would turn out to be so stubborn. He woke up at midnight and cried for six hours. SIX. Count em. One, two, three, four, five, six. SIX. Sure he would doze off for five or ten minutes but wake up as mad as ever. And who are these so called experts that say oh just let them cry and they will go to sleep w/in an hour. Well they need to meet the Bontrager kids. I tried letting him cry, rocking, singing, patting...you name it but nothing seemed to make him happy. Finally after about 4 hours I kicked Michael awake. He was of course in trouble simply b/c he was able to sleep thru 4 hours of his son crying. He tried to calm Bryce, but was also unsuccessful. So finally at about six we got Bryce up. Surprisingly he wasn't even cranky the next day. I sure was. Since then he hasn't slept as well as he normally does, but he's learning how to sleep w/o the swaddle.ow that Bryce is sitting up we've been able to get some pictures of him. Cute kid, but we are wondering where his chin goes when he smiles. Here is Lila reading to Bryce. Poor Bryce is always smothered by his older brother and sister, but for right now he seems to like it most of the time. Lila and Max have been playing so well together lately and it makes me happy that we had our kids so close together. We really want them to be good friends forever.
Here's a picture of my 'office'. Max has really been into coloring lately and he is so proud of all of the pictures he has colored for mommy. He comes in and just smiles at them.

With Bryce's smile and cute dimples, it's hard to imagine him cranky:)

Keep the posts coming. I don't always make a comment, but I love reading them.
