Tina's mom brought over Pizza Hut and a DQ ice cream cake for dinner. What could be better than that? Max would have been very upset if there were no cake, since it "isn't really a birthday if there is no cake". He enjoyed his down to the last drop...
Lila...what a big girl she is becoming. And more stubborn and particular by the minute!
Her are some tidbits about the kids that I have noticed over the past several weeks as I have become very much more involved in their everyday routines.
The kids get to break a few rules when daddy is running the show...
Max:
- loves Lila's book of princess stories and Dora. Not sure if I need to be worried yet, but he was also dancing around all night with a pink ribbon from Tina's birthday present.
- definitely in the "why" phase...full force. I have found that if I give an answer that takes longer than 60 seconds, he usually loses interest and won't ask it.
- I got him to run around the "block" a couple weeks ago on our walk. This is a half mile. He only stopped 4 times as Lila and I caught up. He needs to burn off energy a lot.
- Wakes up at the weirdest times of the night crying and screaming things like "daddy my music stopped", "I can't find teddy", "daddy, my bandaid came off and I don't know where to put it". Not once has a bad dream been the root cause.
- is still deathly afraid to actually speak to kids at the playground, pool, etc. But the kid observes everything and has a memory like an elephant.
- Still requests "Santa Clause" as one of his bedtime songs. I guess we are officially getting closer to Christmas now though.
Lila:
- Started walking more than crawling this week. And now it is almost exclusively walking.
- Discovered that peekabo and touchy/feely books are super duper cool just this week.
- Stopped feeding her formula a couple weeks ago and she had no problems with this at bedtime. Still won't drink milk at meals or snack times unless it she was tricked and super thirsty. And even then she'll figure it out after 3 gulps. So lots of cheese and yogurt we give her instead
- Still LOVES getting dirty. Give her some mulch, dirt, mud, and rocks and she'd be entertained for days
- Wants to do whatever Max is doing to prove what a big girl she is
- Loves blowing kisses and waving bye-bye to people
- Constantly brings me her shoes and throws an absolute fit if I do not immediately put them on her feet and take her outside to play!

i love your approach to the "why" asking. i'm going to try that next time. mason has been in this phase for at least a year, so don't expect it to end soon :)
I love that picture of Lila in the brown shirt. She is too cute.
Happy Birthday, Tina :)
Michael, you are doing such a great job taking care of things while Tina is resting.
