Happy Birthday Daddy!

It was Michael's birthday on Thursday and Max couldn't have been more excited. It was so cute. We made Daddy a birthday card and a banner that kept falling down. Max thought those were pretty cool, but he was so confused b/c for Max birthday is synonymous w/ cake. If you don't have cake, it's not a birthday. Needless to say Max was very upset when I said we weren't having a cake for daddy. He just wasn't having it, so off to the store we went to buy some cake mix for daddy. Max loves cooking, and he couldn't sleep at nap time b/c he was so excited to frost the cupcakes for daddy.

Max's buddy Mason came from Amsterdam for a visit last week. The boys had lots of fun playing, but we won't get to see Mason again for another year. :( Max kept saying Lila was very sad when Mason left. I think Max was the sad one.

Lila is finally getting some teeth and she has been a bit cranky the past couple of days. Poor little girl. She is really starting to show her personality now. I would say she is about 90% laid back and the other 10% is pure fiestiness. She is usually such an easy child, however when she doesn't get what she wants she will let you know about it immediately and she will not stop screaming until she gets it. Not crying, SCREAMING. Typically this involves fruit, or playing in the mulch. She does not want to be carried but still can't walk for more than about 2 steps. I'm still trying to figure out how other families go anywhere with a 1 year old. We had the same problems with Max. This morning I took Lila to run an errand. She doesn't like sitting in the cart so I thought she would be fine if I carried her. She was not having that. She scratched and clawed me b/c she wanted to get down and play. So I'm wondering if I keep taking her places and she keeps crying she will eventually learn she does not get to play on the ground or she might just cry until she is 2 running errands. I'm not sure.
